A Bible Study Teacher and General Secretary, Caleb Umaru has revealed how vigilant members of a church in Orozo, a border community between Abuja and Nasarawa State caught gospel singer, Timilehin Ajayi with the severed head of his ex-girlfriend, Salome Enejo.
In the incident that occurred on Sunday, Umaru said a member spotted Ajayi acting suspiciously near a river.
He said the church member noticed when the singer threw a polythene bag into the river and alerted others.
According to Umaru, the polythene bag was retrieved from the river and Enejo’s severed head was found inside it.
“It was just before the end of the service, around 11 a.m., during the final pledge and prayers. A church member, Brother Victor, opened his eyes during the prayers and noticed someone walking suspiciously by the river near the church, carrying a bag. His movements caught Victor’s attention, prompting him to call over Brother Amos to take notice as well.
“When he saw them, he threw a black nylon bag into the river, and when they enquired from him what he threw into the river, he said nothing. After many questions that he didn’t answer, they left him and went back but didn’t go into the church,” Umaru said.
He disclosed that Ajayi tried to escape when pressed to open the bag to reveal its contents but was apprehended on a farm and handed over to the police, who arrived at the scene in time.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in Nasarawa, Ramhan Nansel confirmed Ajayi’s arrest.
Nansel said the police stopped the mobbing of the suspect after he was found with a fresh human head.
He disclosed that during investigation at the suspect’s place of residence, police found two sacks filled with the victim’s dismembered body.
Nansel confirmed that the victim has been identified as 24-year-old Salome Enejo, a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member, serving in Abuja.
He said the victim’s parents have been contacted and have identified her.
