The Katsina State Police Command has debunked rumours circulating on social media about an alleged attack and looting of a food truck in the state. The police say they have conducted a thorough investigation and found no evidence to support the claims.

CP Musa Aliyu, the Police Commissioner for Katsina, debunked the rumour in a statement issued on Friday by the Command’s spokesperson, Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu.

The Commissioner urges the public to refrain from spreading false information that can cause unnecessary panic and fear.

The statement reads in part: “After a thorough investigation into the matter, it has been concluded that no such incident took place within the state, as there is no evidence to suggest that a trailer loaded with foodstuffs was attacked or looted at any point in time by members of the public throughout the state, as captioned in these videos.

“Therefore, the command urges members of the public to refrain from spreading false information that can cause unnecessary panic and fear among citizens of the state and the country at large. The dissemination of such baseless rumours is not only mischievous but also detrimental to the peace and security of our society.

“CP Musa assures members of the general public of the Command’s commitment to upholding law and order and will not hesitate to take appropriate action against those who attempt to spread misinformation for malicious purposes.

“He encourages the general public to rely on official sources of information and refrain from sharing unverified news that can lead to unwarranted fear and anxiety across the state.”
